Established in 1958.

Crescenta Cañada Pet Hospital opened in 1958 to serve the Foothill Communities; we see pets from La Crescenta, La Cañada, Glendale CA, Crescenta Valley, North L.A. County and surrounding area. At Crescenta Canada Pet Hospital, we are small enough to offer friendly personal attention to you and your pets. We work hard to maintain an excellent staff of doctors, receptionists and technicians. Our pet care staff is a great team, with the right mix of skills and backgrounds, and they have been carefully chosen to provide the best care for your pet at our modern pet-friendly veterinary hospital.

Dr. James S.

Business Owner

Dr. James Speas (J.D.) was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. Dr. Speas comes from a  family of longtime ranchers; from early on he's been exposed to the challenges and satisfactions of practicing medicine, so a career as a veterinarian was a logical choice.

Dr. Speas graduated from Colorado State University in 1984. His first veterinary experience was in a mixed large and small animal practice in Salida, Colorado. He then practiced in several small animal and mixed practices in Wyoming and Colorado.

In 1995, Dr. Speas and his family relocated to southern California and he took over Crescenta Cañada Pet Hospital. Dr. Speas has a special interest in surgery and enjoys the challenges of internal medicine cases. Additionally, he enjoys seeing the unique and exotic cases, such as pocket pets and reptiles. Dr. Speas is very proud of the quality of veterinary service provided at Crescenta Cañada Pet Hospital and constantly looks to enhance the quality of life of pets and pet owners.
