Urgent Pet was founded to meet a growing need in the Bay Area: timely, expert veterinary care for pets who can’t wait days for a regular appointment but don’t require a full-service emergency room. As the first dedicated urgent care veterinary hospital in the region, we’ve built our practice around efficiency, compassion, and clinical excellence. Our facility is equipped with cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment tools, including digital radiography, ultrasound, in-house lab testing, and advanced monitoring systems. Every veterinarian on our team has years of emergency room experience, ensuring your pet receives the highest level of care. We’re proud to serve the East Bay community and beyond with a new standard in urgent veterinary care.

Dr K.

Business Owner

Dr. Kulasekara, affectionately known as “Dr. K,” brings over 25 years of veterinary experience to Urgent Pet. She began her career by co-founding the first multi-doctor private veterinary hospital in Sri Lanka, where she cared for the pets of diplomats from around the world. Since moving to the U.S., Dr. K has worked in emergency hospitals across Massachusetts, Maryland, and California. Most recently, she served as a full-time relief veterinarian at three emergency hospitals in the East Bay. Her passion for animal care is matched by her love of global cultures, which she explores through travel, cuisine, music, and literature.
